A report on conscientization programme for GENDER AND SEXUALITY.
INTRODUCTION
The conscientization programme for GENDER AND SEXUALITY was organised by Teacher students of KUCTE KUNNAM in Govt.Muhammaden H.S Kollakadavu on 27/11/2024.
The programme aimed to raise awareness about gender and sexuality issues and promote community involvement.
Gender and sexuality are complex and multifaceted aspects of human identity. They play a significant role in shaping our experiences, interactions, and relationships with others. In today's society, it is essential to recognize and respect the diversity of gender and sexual identities, and to promote inclusivity and understanding.
NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE
Here are the need and significance of taking a class about gender and sexuality to students:
1. Lack of awareness and understanding: Many students lack awareness and understanding about gender and sexuality, leading to misconceptions and stereotypes.
2. Promoting inclusivity and diversity. Educating students about gender and sexuality helps promote inclusivity and diversity, creating a welcoming environment for all.
3. Addressing social and health issues: Discussing gender and sexuality can help address social and health issues, such as sexual harassment, assault, and HIV/AIDS.
4. Fostering empathy and respect: Educating students about gender and sexuality encourages empathy and respect for individuals with diverse identities and experiences.
5. Empowering students with knowledge.Educating students about gender and sexuality empowers them with knowledge, enabling them to make informed decisions and navigate complex social situations.
6. Promoting healthy relationships and behaviors.Discussing healthy relationships, consent, and safe sex practices helps students develop positive attitudes and behaviors.
7. Creating a safe and inclusive learning environment. Educating students about gender and sexuality fosters a safe and inclusive learning environment, promoting academic success and well-being.
8. Preparing students for an increasingly diverse world.As the world becomes increasingly diverse educating students about gender and sexuality prepares them to navigate and appreciate diverse perspectives and experiences.
OBJECTIVES
1. _Raise awareness and understanding_: Educate participants about gender and sexuality, challenging myths and stereotypes.
2. _Promote inclusivity and diversity_: Foster a culture of inclusivity, respect, and empathy for diverse gender identities and sexual orientations.
3. _Empower critical thinking and reflection_: Encourage participants to critically examine their own biases, assumptions, and values related to gender and sexuality.
4. _Recognize and challenge gender stereotypes_: Identify and critique societal expectations and norms that perpetuate gender-based discrimination.
5. _Understand the impact of gender-based violence_: Discuss the consequences of gender-based violence, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and harassment.
6. _Foster healthy relationships and communication_: Promote mutual respect, trust, and effective communication in relationships.
7. _Develop empathy and allyship_: Encourage participants to become active allies and advocates for marginalized gender and sexual minority groups.
PROCEDURE
We conducted a conscientization programme for the students of Govt.Muhammaden H.S Kollakadavu about "GENDER AND SEXUALITY."
In the beginning an introduction was given by ANJU.L about the topic.she give an introduction as sex and Gender is a critical issue that our generation faces.The sex of an individual is usually identified at birth.People who are concious of gender justice shape a just society that ensures equal rights , opportunities and dignity. After that ARYA KRISHNA R.S explain about the need and significance of the programme.Then I told students about the objectives of the programme.After that impact of the programme was discussed. We collected the opinion of the students what they get from this section and what they understand after the programme. At last BASITH.K concluded the conscientization programme by summarising the whole programme.
IMPACT OF THE PROGRAMME
1. Increased awareness and understanding.
